Students collate information about 1930s Shanklin, using a variety of sources from The Model Village Godshill. They then construct their own 1930s leaflet, representing that period in the Island's past. There is a literacy crossover (reading and writing).
This is a History resource that engages students with their visit to The Model Village, Godshill.
The resource tasks enable students to look at various sources that relate to The Model Village and its representation of Shanklin in the 1930s.
Students use these sources to produce a 1930s leaflet with information for visitors. There is a crossover with English (reading the sources; writing the leaflet text).
Students could make notes, take photographs, or collect written information about Shanklin as represented at The Model Village Godshill.
Students will demonstrate their literacy skills by reading sources, obtaining information and writing the text for a leaflet. They will demonstrate that they have gained new knowledge about life on the Isle of Wight in the 1930s, as represented at The Model Village Godshill.
