The resource is a series of questions that link directly to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s museum; as the students engage with the interpretation around the room, they will learn about how the railways on the Isle of Wight have changed from the past to the present.
Students are able to practise their interpretation skills whilst engaging with historical aspects of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The task is relevant to students in key stage 3 and key stage 4.
It is suggested to teachers that students undertake some research the background of the railway, in particular the history of the Isle of Wight railway network and its features, as a class pre-learning activity. Students should be keen to practise responding to the resource questions.

Follow-up tasks could include: Whole class discussion about the responses to the questions; Groups presenting back their collated ideas to the class; Completion of a timeline
Students will be able to investigate the historical aspects of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway by using museum resources and interpreting the questions, retrieving information, and recording their responses.
