Last updated 22nd February 2021 - regularly reviewed
We are delighted with the Prime Minister's announcement today, 22nd February, where the expectation was set that everything should be in place for us to start to welcome visiting schools from 17th May 2021, subject to review of course. We also welcome the fantastic news from the Public Health Scotland study confirming the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccines along with the PM's new stretch target to complete the initial dosing by the end of June.
We are currently in the process of contacting all our schools due to arrive before this date to discuss options such as postponement or cancellation.
We can assure you that all aspects of your visit will be conducted in a "Covid Secure" way, adopting or exceeding all recommended guidelines. In the main, this will not affect the running of the trip especially if your cohort is made up of a single social bubble. There will be some minor changes to activities to ensure safety or segregation from the general public, and if any of these affect your trip we will let you know of the arrangements in plenty of time so that you can change them if required.
If you would still like to postpone your planned visit we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible to discuss options, especially as 2022 places are already in very short supply.
We now look forward to welcoming our full quorum of visitors in 2022, but we understand that there may be some reticence to book ahead whilst doubts exist.
At the same time we are experiencing an extremely high demand for summer 2022 and we don't want our regular customers to find that they are unable to secure the dates or accommodation provider of their choice as a consequence of delaying their decision to book.
We have therefore worked with our main partners to agree a new clause in our Terms and Conditions of Booking which, in the event of a late cancellation or postponement forced by local or central government action in respect of Covid-19 affecting your school, will significantly limit your potential losses. In reality this means hoteliers, coach operators and activity providers being out of pocket with little likelihood of refilling your booked slots. But they are balancing this risk against the possibility of no bookings being made at all so have agreed to work with us on this.
To discuss this option in more detail, get in touch and we'll be able to tell you exactly what's involved. These new terms will automatically apply to all bookings made from November 2020 onwards.
