THE MODEL VILLAGE, GODSHILL, Godshill

"You have to see it to believe it!"

External picture of The Model Village, Godshill

Meticulously and humorously crafted scale models of the local area.

Absorb the slower pace of life in the early 1900s, leaving the hustle and bustle of modern day life outside the gate. Keep your eyes open for little Islanders at work and play!

Godshill Model Village is a well designed and highly authentic reproduction of parts of Godshill Village and nearby Shanklin (including its famous Chine). People of all ages will marvel at the intricacy of the modelmaking and the tongue-in-cheek references to life in a bygone age.

Due to the fixed scale used throughout the attraction, it lends itself well to maths and geometry puzzles. This historical aspects depicted in the model village link well with the national curriculum, and the representation of the nearby medieval church offers the opportunity for students to study the real building in more detail.

As an outdoor facility, PSHE teamworking activities are obvious, with a choice of well designed trails and quizzes available. For arts and design students, the actual model making methods and techniques will be of interest, and the venue can arrange workshop demonstration sessions if requested in advance.

Science topics are covered here too - from the biology of the thousands of manicured bonsai shrubs and trees, to a cross-subject study of renewable energy.

This place is a goldmine for teachers with over 50 resource ideas already developed.
