Dinosaur Isle offers a variety of engaging learning opportunities in several core subjects.

Science students of all age groups can take advantage of the museum's breadth of exhibits, including local fossil finds, dinosaur bones and other natural history curios.

The formation of fossils and the rock cycle can be explored here with a hands-on approach; students can better understand dinosaurs' habitat and theories surrounding their extinction. Students can even handle coprolite (dinosaur poo)!

Other subject skills, such as those in English and Art & Design can be practised at Dinosaur Isle due to the engaging subject matter that encourages creativity and expression. Activities are also available for History (Natural History - timeline etc.), Mathematics and Geology. For older students there are opportunities for case study work in subjects such as Travel & Tourism and Leisure & Tourism, as the museum operates as a tourist attraction as well as a business.

The layout of the site lends itself effectively to school visits as there is a designated classroom area and plenty of space in the museum to undertake activities. Packed lunches may be taken in the classroom area or outside by the lake in a dedicated picnic area.

Q: WHAT'S THE MAXIMUM GROUP SIZE AT DINOSAUR ISLE?
A: By prior arrangement, larger groups can be split up and accompanied by different staff members. A lot depends on the tide times. Ordinarily, a single group would not exceed 60 students but with planning 180 would not be an issue.
