This resource is designed to be used in the classroom as a post-visit resource. It is a reading comprehension task that engages students with their visit to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. The resource tasks enable them to practise their reading, writing and spelling skills.
Students are asked to read a number of short descriptions of specific donkeys. They then answer a set of questions focusing on purpose, meaning and vocabulary before attempting their own description.
Students will demonstrate their reading skills, showing evidence of understanding the meaning of a text and the meaning of particular words and phrases. They will also demonstrate their ability to pick out key points and to apply what they have learned in the creation of their own example.
