105111 - Upper KS2 Low Ability [THIS DOCUMENT]
Students will observe plants and animals in the Robin Hill habitat and will identify key features and physical characteristics. Students will then group these organisms into the most appropriate group identified on their worksheet.
This resource links to the National Curriculum for Science, (recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways; classification). This on-site science activity enables students to work scientifically in observing and grouping living things (animals and plants) at Robin Hill Country Park.
This resource engages students with specific elements of their visit, linking their learning to the curriculum; they will gain knowledge from their general engagement with the natural environment at Robin Hill and practise their scientific skills, identifying types of animal and plant and grouping them as appropriate based on certain characteristics.
Students should have had some previous discussions about classification and grouping of living organisms
Students recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. Students name a variety of things that can be found in the local and wider environment. Students will be able to perform simple classification of plants and animals based on observations.
