Students comprehend information from an old map of Godshill Model Village, some numeracy questions are also included.
This is an English resource that engages students with their visit to Godshill Model Village.
The resource task enables students to practise their skills of comprehension, inference and deduction as well as their thinking skills.
Students are asked to answer a number of questions using authentic documentation about Godshill Model Village as their stimulus material.
This is a post-visit resource. This task could be introduced before the visit to Godshill Model Village so that students are aware of the need to remember particular places and information.
It is anticipated that students will be more motivated to complete
the task as it relates to an actual experience. They will see historical resources that reveal more about the origins and development of The Model Village, and will answer questions about the content therein.
The task will reinforce students’ awareness of the importance of deduction and inference when interpreting texts for the purpose of research.
The resource could be used at any stage throughout the year after the visit to Godshill Model Village, although the motivating impact of the experience will be reduced over time.
