Students respond to their visit by writing creatively.
This is an English writing resource that engages students with their visit to The Model Village, Godshill. The resource tasks enable them to practise their crafting skills. Students are asked to write to entertain, using The Model Village as their stimulus material. The task links to specific aspects of the model village that they will have explored during their visit. The tasks are designed to appeal to students in key stage 2.
This is a follow-up resource to be completed in the classroom post- visit. This task can be introduced before the visit to The Model Village so that students are aware of the need to focus on their experience, taking note of the features of the village and forming ideas for possible creative responses.
The tasks can be integrated into English lessons at any stage throughout the academic year as a revision tool or for writing practice. It is anticipated that students will have an enriched experience as they will be reflecting on their school visit activities in a creative way, and this will reinforce how English, and writing in particular, can be a valuable expressive tool.

The questions could be discussed in class prior to the trip so students are bearing this in mind when on their visit, focusing on the aesthetic aspects of their experience at The Model Village.

Students will demonstrate their creative writing skills.
They will demonstrate evidence of planning as well as showing that they can make language choices appropriate to an identified purpose and audience.
Students will reflect on an experience and create a new text from this stimulus.
