Using cards, students match the image of a park area or ride with corresponding historical information, then re-order them into correct chronological order!
This is a pre- or post-visit history resource that engages students
with their visit to Blackgang Chine Theme Park. The resource task challenges them to identify the historical periods and key facts featured as part of the park’s various attractions, and to place these in chronological order.
Students are asked to match the cards then focus on placing the information in its correct historical / chronological order.
This is a short task that students can complete before they go to familiarise themselves with the park’s attractions and their historical links, or they could complete the task back in the classroom.
This task could be used to complement the larger Blackgang history project task (ED resource number 106061).
Students are asked to match the cards (cut up and jumbled by the teacher) then focus on placing the resulting information in its correct historical / chronological order. The low ability resource (106331) has colour-coded rows so it will be easier for students to match the cards, their main challenge will be the chronological ordering.
Ideally, the resource needs to be completed immediately before or after the visit, to be most effective.

The students could complete the resource now (if desired) to gain an understanding of the historically- related attractions at Blackgang Chine ahead of their visit.

Completion of the History resource task linked to this document
Students will re-organise and identify the correlating links between the historical information presented to them. They will show a clear understanding of chronology and place the attractions in the right chronological order based on the historical date information.
