Observing and identifying the key habitat features as presented in the museum
This science resource enables students to learn about the features of the dinosaurs’ habitat and how this perhaps contributed to fossilisation.
It is suggested to teachers that they encourage students to research dinosaurs’ habitats before the visit so students are keen to engage with the information they find at the museum.
Key Skills Practised
Reading and interpreting information
Identifying key aspects of habitat
Considering impact of environment and habitat on the fossilisation process
Parts of this resource could be used as a pre-visit research task, but is designed to work in conjunction with the information discoverable at the museum.

Why not complete this resource on a day trip?
The Isle of Wight can be reached in as little as 12 minutes! If you're located close to the south coast then a day trip is easily achievable...
This resource could be completed as part of the following day trip:
Dino Delights! from £22.12pp
The Isle of Wight is Europe's Dinosaur & Fossil capital! Dino Delights is an inspiring day trip to a fascinating dinosaur museum.
Follow-up tasks could include: whole class discussion about the responses to the questions; groups presenting back their collated responses to the class; projects on the habitats of particular species
Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to develop an understanding of theories and hypotheses surrounding the likely plants, foods, and environmental features in the habitat of the dinosaur.
