The task links to the students' visit to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and is relevant to students in upper key stage 2. This task links
the visit with core English writing skills and allows students the opportunity to look at peripheral texts that link to the history of the railways.
This is an English writing composition task that enables students to practise their writing skills, specifically to write in the style of another text.
This task can be introduced post-visit as a peripheral or follow-up task that links to the history of the Isle of Wight railway whilst engaging students in literacy-based aspects.

Students could do some research into the history of the Isle of Wight Railways to help with contextual knowledge and understanding.
During the Visit
Students could be noting down language that to them is old fashioned or no longer in use.
